Michael Ocon

Executive Director

Michael Ocon is the Executive Director of the Eaton Fire Collaborative (EFC), the Long-Term Recovery Group coordinating survivor-centered recovery efforts following the Eaton Fire across Altadena, Pasadena, Sierra Madre, and surrounding communities. He previously served as the inaugural Secretary of the Eaton Fire Collaborative Leadership Council and helped guide the Collaborative’s early organizational development and cross-sector coordination efforts. 


A proud graduate of the Pasadena Unified School District and a first-generation college graduate, Michael earned a B.A. in English Literature from Stanford University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California. Michael’s professional experience spans disaster recovery, education, policy, communications, and community engagement. He has worked on local, state, and federal campaigns and previously served as a communications and political consultant focused on advancing education equity and youth empowerment. His work is grounded in the belief that all students and families deserve access to meaningful opportunities, resources, and systems of support regardless of background, income, citizenship status, identity, or academic trajectory. 


Under his leadership, the Eaton Fire Collaborative convenes more than 200 organizational partners across nonprofit, faith, philanthropic, volunteer, and government sectors to coordinate disaster case management, unmet needs funding, housing stabilization, rebuilding support, wellness initiatives, and long-term recovery systems for fire survivors. Locally, Michael serves as a Trustee for the Monrovia Unified School District Board of Education and as Board Secretary for College Access Plan. He previously served as Manager of Community Projects & Communications at Collaborate PASadena, where he supported regional initiatives focused on children, families, and community wellbeing.
