Zaire Calvin

Zaire Calvin is a lifelong Altadena resident, community organizer, nonprofit leader, and founder of Xtreme Athletics, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving health, wellness, youth development, and community resilience. For more than two decades, he has worked at the intersection of education, behavioral health, athletics, and community leadership, mentoring hundreds of young people while helping families build healthier, stronger futures. His professional background includes work in behavioral intervention, recreation therapy, youth development, and nonprofit leadership, alongside a successful coaching career that has helped numerous student-athletes earn college scholarships.

Following the Eaton Fire, Zaire emerged as one of the leading voices in Altadena's recovery, helping unite residents, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and elected officials around a shared vision of rebuilding without displacement. As the founder of Altadena Natives Rebuild and a trusted advocate known as the "Voice of the Village," he has worked tirelessly to advance community-led recovery, housing stabilization, mental health support, insurance accountability, infrastructure improvements, food security, and legislative advocacy to ensure residents remain at the center of every rebuilding decision.

Zaire believes recovery is about more than replacing structures—it is about restoring people, preserving history, and protecting the culture that has made Altadena one of California's most unique and diverse communities. His service on the Board reflects his lifelong commitment to ensuring that recovery is equitable, transparent, and driven by the voices of those who call Altadena home.
